Beside from countless hiking paths and walks there is another highlight in South Tyrol: the Dolomites - world natural heritage, with the "Rosengarden", "Latemar", "Marmolada", "Drei Zinnen" and the "Schlern" - they belong to the most beautiful mountains of the world and show their very best side to active guests all the year round.  

All the year round Merano and his environment offers a wide variety of sportive activities. The central location of our Residence enables our guests to reach sport and leisure activities all over South Tyrol in a very short time.

Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle
The impressive 12-hectare gardens offer a variety of themed gardens and a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains. They can be easily reached on foot via the Sissi Path or by bus line 1B.

Tappeiner Promenade
This historic panoramic trail runs along Küchelberg and offers breathtaking views of Merano and the Adige Valley. The path is easy to walk and ideal for a relaxing stroll.

Merano Old Town and Spa Promenades
Just a few minutes’ walk away are the spa promenades and the old town of Merano, with its medieval arcades, elegant boutiques, and cozy cafés. Highlights include the parish church of St. Nicholas and the city theater.

Tyrol Castle
This imposing castle above the village of Dorf Tirol houses the South Tyrolean Museum of Cultural and Regional History. It can be reached on foot via the Tappeiner Promenade or by chairlift.

Maria Trost Church
This Romanesque church from the 12th century in Untermais impresses with well-preserved frescoes and a tranquil atmosphere. It is an important historical building in Merano.

 

 

Hiking in Merano

Amazingly beautiful hiking paths lead to the “Mutspitze” or to different mountain pastures and mountain huts in the near of Merano. You can reach your target on foot or with the cable railway and experience untouched nature and breath-taking views to the valley. Moreover you could hike to the “Karersee”, a lake with unforgettable impressive emerald green colours or explore our wonderful mountain pastures that make you experience stunning views and absolute freedom.

Explore Merano by bike

Only 200 meters from our building, you find a well maintained bicycle path who leads to Passeier Valley. The path runs along the river “Passer” and leads to the mountain pass “Stilfserjoch”, or to the lake “Lago di Garda”. In addition, there are countless ways through forests, green fields and in the near of mountain pastures where every passionate mountain biker experience unforgettable adventures. Another amazing offer is “Bike and Train”: you could reach various places in Vinschgau Valley by train and turn back to Merano by bike.

Active in the winter

The ski area Merano 2000 can be reached by skier and snowboarder in only five minutes by car. In Merano 2000 expects you a ski area with 40 kilometres long ski runs which show you a different level of difficulty. The ski area can be also suitable for ski tourer and snowshoe trekkers.
